Description
Soft, golden bread rolls made with just self-rising flour and plain kefir, offering a tender crumb, light tang, and fresh homemade flavor with minimal effort.
Ingredients
- Self-rising flour: 2 cups, provides structure and built-in leavening
- Plain kefir: 1 cup, adds moisture, softness, and a gentle tang
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 190°C and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the self-rising flour and kefir until a soft dough forms.
- Lightly knead the dough by hand for about 1 minute until smooth and no longer sticky.
- Divide the dough into 6 equal portions and roll each portion into a smooth ball.
- Place the rolls onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between them.
- Bake for 18 to 22 minutes until the rolls are lightly golden and firm to the touch.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Use room-temperature kefir for easier mixing and smoother dough.
- Avoid over-kneading to keep the rolls soft and tender.
- If the dough feels sticky, lightly flour your hands instead of adding more flour.
- **Note:** For very dry kitchens, add 1 to 2 tablespoons of extra kefir if needed.
