Description

Simple and festive candied cranberries made with just three ingredients, offering a sweet, crunchy coating and a bright tart center, perfect for garnishing desserts, cheese boards, and holiday treats.

Ingredients

  • Fresh cranberries: 2 cups
  • Granulated sugar: 2 cups
  • Water: 1 cup

Instructions

  1. Combine 1 cup of granulated sugar and 1 cup of water in a medium saucepan and heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved and the syrup is clear.
  2. Add the fresh cranberries to the warm syrup and gently stir for about 1 minute until evenly coated.
  3. Remove the cranberries using a slotted spoon and place them on a wire rack set over parchment paper. Let them dry for about 1 hour until tacky.
  4. Roll the tacky cranberries in the remaining 1 cup of granulated sugar until fully coated.
  5. Return the sugared cranberries to the wire rack and let them dry for 1 to 2 hours until crisp.

Notes

  • Use firm, dry cranberries for the best sugar coating.
  • Allow enough drying time so the sugar sets and becomes crunchy.
  • Avoid refrigeration, as moisture can dissolve the sugar coating.
  • If cranberries lose sparkle, re-roll them lightly in fresh sugar.
