Description
Simple and festive candied cranberries made with just three ingredients, offering a sweet, crunchy coating and a bright tart center, perfect for garnishing desserts, cheese boards, and holiday treats.
Ingredients
- Fresh cranberries: 2 cups
- Granulated sugar: 2 cups
- Water: 1 cup
Instructions
- Combine 1 cup of granulated sugar and 1 cup of water in a medium saucepan and heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved and the syrup is clear.
- Add the fresh cranberries to the warm syrup and gently stir for about 1 minute until evenly coated.
- Remove the cranberries using a slotted spoon and place them on a wire rack set over parchment paper. Let them dry for about 1 hour until tacky.
- Roll the tacky cranberries in the remaining 1 cup of granulated sugar until fully coated.
- Return the sugared cranberries to the wire rack and let them dry for 1 to 2 hours until crisp.
Notes
- Use firm, dry cranberries for the best sugar coating.
- Allow enough drying time so the sugar sets and becomes crunchy.
- Avoid refrigeration, as moisture can dissolve the sugar coating.
- If cranberries lose sparkle, re-roll them lightly in fresh sugar.
