Description
A warm, comforting sandwich that combines savory ham, gooey melted cheese, and a touch of sweet fruit jam, all grilled between golden, buttery slices of bread for a quick and satisfying meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 slices sandwich bread
- 2 slices cooked ham
- 2 slices mild melting cheese (such as mozzarella or cheddar)
- 1 tablespoon fruit jam
- 1 tablespoon butter, softened
Instructions
- Spread the softened butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread.
- Place one slice of bread butter-side down on a clean surface and layer with one slice of cheese, the ham slices, and the fruit jam spread gently over the ham.
- Add the second slice of cheese on top of the jam, then cover with the second slice of bread, butter-side facing up.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and carefully place the sandwich into the pan.
- Cook for 2 to 3 minutes per side, flipping once, until the bread is golden and crisp and the cheese is fully melted.
- Remove from the skillet, let rest briefly, slice, and serve warm.
Notes
- Use a slightly tart jam to balance the savory ham and rich cheese.
- Keep the heat at medium to prevent burning the bread before the cheese melts.
- Let the sandwich rest for a minute before slicing to keep the layers intact.
