Description

  • 4 medium ripe bananas, sliced lengthwise
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted and divided
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and generously grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk the eggs, granulated sugar, milk, vanilla extract, and remaining melted butter until smooth.
  4. Gradually combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients, mixing gently until just combined.
  5. Pour 1/4 cup melted butter into the prepared cake pan and evenly sprinkle the brown sugar over it.
  6. Arrange the banana slices neatly over the brown sugar mixture.
  7. Carefully pour the cake batter over the bananas and spread evenly.
  8. Bake for 38 to 42 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Let the cake cool for 10 minutes before carefully inverting it onto a serving plate.
  10. Slice and serve warm.
