Description
A creamy, cozy homemade latte blending earthy matcha with nutty pistachios and a hint of vanilla. It’s warm, lightly sweet, and totally better than the coffee shop version.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 teaspoon matcha powder
- 2 tablespoons shelled pistachios or 1 tablespoon pistachio butter
- 1 cup milk of choice (whole, oat, almond, etc.)
- 1 to 2 teaspoons honey or maple syrup
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons hot water
- Ice cubes (optional, for iced version)
Instructions
- Warm your mug by filling it with hot water, then discard the water.
- In a blender, combine pistachios, vanilla extract, sweetener, and a splash of milk. Blend until smooth.
- In a small saucepan, heat the remaining milk until warm but not boiling.
- Sift matcha powder into a bowl and whisk with hot water until dissolved and frothy.
- Stir or blend the warm milk into the pistachio mixture until creamy and smooth.
- Pour the pistachio milk into your mug and gently add the matcha mixture on top. Stir for a swirl effect.
- Top with foam or a sprinkle of matcha powder if desired and enjoy.
Notes
- Use unsweetened pistachio milk or nut butter for better control over sweetness.
- Ceremonial grade matcha gives a smoother, more delicate flavor.
- You can prepare the pistachio base ahead and refrigerate for up to 3 days.
- Try it iced by pouring over ice and skipping the pre-warmed mug step.
