Description

Soft fried donuts filled with sweet berry jam and topped with a glossy pink glaze. Light, fluffy, and bursting with fruity flavor in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup berry jam
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
  • A few drops pink food coloring
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a bowl mix warm milk, yeast, and granulated sugar. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add eggs, melted butter, and salt. Stir well.
  3. Gradually mix in the flour until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough for about 8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size.
  6. Roll the dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/2 inch thickness.
  7. Cut rounds using a donut cutter or round glass.
  8. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot to 350°F.
  9. Fry the donuts in batches until golden brown on both sides, about 2 minutes per side.
  10. Transfer to paper towels and allow them to cool slightly.
  11. Use a piping bag to fill each donut with berry jam.
  12. Mix powdered sugar, milk, and pink food coloring to create a smooth glaze.
  13. Dip the tops of the donuts into the glaze and allow it to set.

Notes

  • Make sure the oil temperature stays around 350°F for even frying.
  • Allow the dough to fully rise to keep the donuts soft and fluffy.
  • You can substitute strawberry, raspberry, or mixed berry jam.
  • Add a drop of vanilla extract to the glaze for extra flavor.
