- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, browned
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 3/4 cup sour cream
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan or line it with parchment.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix browned butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, sour cream, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
- Stir in the chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- Prepare a quick crumb topping by mixing flour, brown sugar, and cold butter, then sprinkle over the loaf.
- Bake for 55–65 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
- Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
Notes
- Use room temperature eggs and sour cream for a smoother batter.
- Do not overmix to maintain a tender crumb.
- Brown the butter ahead and let it cool before mixing.
- Lightly flour the chocolate chips to prevent them from sinking.
