- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 2 sheets refrigerated pie dough
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Add chopped onion and garlic, and cook until softened.
- Stir in tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and paprika. Let simmer for a few minutes, then remove from heat and let cool slightly. Stir in shredded cheese.
- Roll out your dough on a lightly floured surface and cut into 4–5 inch circles or squares.
- Spoon filling onto one side of each dough piece, fold over, and crimp the edges with a fork.
- Place pockets on the prepared baking sheet and brush the tops with beaten egg.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown and puffed. Let rest 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Let the filling cool before assembling to prevent soggy dough.
- Use parchment paper for easy cleanup and to prevent sticking.
- Add chopped jalapeño if you like a spicy twist.
- These freeze well unbaked and can be baked directly from frozen.
