Ingredients
- Potatoes: 800 grams, peeled and thinly sliced
- Minced Beef: 500 grams
- Onion: 1 medium, finely chopped
- Carrots: 2 medium, finely diced
- Garlic: 3 cloves, minced
- Canned Tomatoes: 400 grams
- Tomato Paste: 2 tablespoons
- Olive Oil: 2 tablespoons
- Dried Oregano: 1 teaspoon
- Dried Basil: 1 teaspoon
- Salt and Pepper: To taste
- Cheddar Cheese: 200 grams, grated
- Parmesan Cheese: 50 grams, optional
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F).
- Heat olive oil in a saucepan, sauté onions, carrots, and garlic until soft.
- Add minced beef and cook until browned.
- Stir in canned tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 15-20 minutes until thickened.
- Grease an ovenproof dish with olive oil.
- Layer half the potatoes, followed by half the bolognese sauce, and half the cheddar cheese.
- Repeat layers and finish with remaining cheese on top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake another 15 minutes until cheese is golden and bubbling.
- Allow to rest for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Slice potatoes thinly for even cooking.
- Use a mix of cheeses for richer flavor.
- Let it rest before serving for stable layers.
