Description
Soft and festive Christmas Cookies with lightly crisp edges, tender centers, and a classic buttery sweetness, perfect for holiday baking, sharing, and gifting.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup colored sugar sprinkles
Instructions
- Cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together in a large bowl until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until a soft dough forms.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and place them on parchment-lined baking sheets, leaving space between each cookie.
- Gently press colored sugar sprinkles onto the tops of the cookies.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 10 to 12 minutes, until the edges are set and the centers remain soft.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Chill the dough for 20 minutes if the kitchen is warm to prevent spreading.
- Bake one tray at a time for even results.
- Remove cookies while centers are slightly soft for the best texture.
- Store fully cooled cookies before stacking to protect the sprinkles.
