Description

Soft and festive Christmas Cookies with lightly crisp edges, tender centers, and a classic buttery sweetness, perfect for holiday baking, sharing, and gifting.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup colored sugar sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together in a large bowl until light and fluffy.
  2. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until a soft dough forms.
  5. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and place them on parchment-lined baking sheets, leaving space between each cookie.
  6. Gently press colored sugar sprinkles onto the tops of the cookies.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 10 to 12 minutes, until the edges are set and the centers remain soft.
  8. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Chill the dough for 20 minutes if the kitchen is warm to prevent spreading.
  • Bake one tray at a time for even results.
  • Remove cookies while centers are slightly soft for the best texture.
  • Store fully cooled cookies before stacking to protect the sprinkles.
