- 16 ounces mozzarella cheese, cut into 12 even sticks
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 2 cups Italian-style breadcrumbs
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 cups vegetable oil for frying
- 1 cup marinara sauce, warmed
Instructions
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep saucepan to 350°F or 175°C and prepare a wire rack for draining.
- Place flour in one bowl, beaten eggs in another, and mix breadcrumbs with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper in a third bowl.
- Dip each mozzarella stick into flour, then egg, then breadcrumbs. Repeat the egg and breadcrumb coating for a double layer.
- Place coated sticks on a tray and freeze for at least 30 minutes.
- Fry 3 to 4 sticks at a time for 2 to 3 minutes until golden brown.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on a wire rack.
- Serve immediately with warm marinara sauce.
Notes
- Freeze the sticks before frying to prevent cheese from leaking.
- Maintain oil temperature at 350°F for best crisp texture.
- Do not overcrowd the pan while frying.
- Reheat leftovers in the oven at 375°F for 8 minutes to restore crispiness.
