Description

Golden, crunchy mozzarella sticks with a perfectly gooey center, inspired by the classic restaurant favorite. Double-coated for extra crispiness and served hot with warm marinara sauce for dipping.


Ingredients

  • 16 ounces mozzarella cheese, cut into 12 even sticks
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups Italian-style breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 cups vegetable oil for frying
  • 1 cup marinara sauce, warmed

Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a deep saucepan to 350°F or 175°C and prepare a wire rack for draining.
  2. Place flour in one bowl, beaten eggs in another, and mix breadcrumbs with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper in a third bowl.
  3. Dip each mozzarella stick into flour, then egg, then breadcrumbs. Repeat the egg and breadcrumb coating for a double layer.
  4. Place coated sticks on a tray and freeze for at least 30 minutes.
  5. Fry 3 to 4 sticks at a time for 2 to 3 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on a wire rack.
  7. Serve immediately with warm marinara sauce.

Notes

  • Freeze the sticks before frying to prevent cheese from leaking.
  • Maintain oil temperature at 350°F for best crisp texture.
  • Do not overcrowd the pan while frying.
  • Reheat leftovers in the oven at 375°F for 8 minutes to restore crispiness.
