Description

Crispy-edged, cheesy, and full of juicy flavor, these double cheese smash burgers bring diner-style indulgence right into your home kitchen.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 pounds ground beef (80/20)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 8 slices American or cheddar cheese
  • 4 large burger buns
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup sliced pickles
  • 1/4 cup burger sauce
  • Optional: Thinly sliced onions (raw or grilled)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Your Equipment: Place your skillet or griddle on high heat and let it get very hot, about 5 minutes.
  2. Combine Ingredients: Divide the ground beef into 8 equal balls. Gently shape and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Prepare Your Cooking Vessel: Lightly butter the skillet if not non-stick. Toast the buns face-down until golden and set aside.
  4. Assemble the Dish: Place two beef balls onto the skillet. Smash each into a thin patty using a press or spatula and hold for 10 seconds.
  5. Cook to Perfection: Cook undisturbed for 2-3 minutes. Flip and add cheese. Cook another 1-2 minutes until melted.
  6. Finishing Touches: Stack two patties per burger. Add sauce, pickles, and onions to the buns.
  7. Serve and Enjoy: Assemble and enjoy hot.

Notes

  • Use parchment paper when smashing to prevent sticking.
  • Cover the skillet briefly to melt the cheese faster.
  • Shape patties ahead of time and store chilled for easy prep.
  • Use high-fat beef for optimal flavor and crust.
