- 900 g flank or skirt steak
- 3 tbsp fresh lime juice
- 2 tbsp fresh orange juice
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 large avocado, diced
- 1 small tomato, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp red onion, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1 tbsp lime juice (for salsa)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together lime juice, orange juice, olive oil, minced garlic, cumin, chili powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
- Place the steak in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over it, ensuring it is fully coated. Marinate for at least 30 minutes or up to several hours in the refrigerator.
- Prepare the avocado salsa by gently combining diced avocado, tomato, red onion, cilantro, lime juice, salt, and pepper in a small bowl. Set aside.
- Heat a grill or grill pan to medium high. Remove the steak from the marinade and shake off any excess.
- Grill the steak for 3 to 5 minutes per side, or until charred on the outside and cooked to your preferred doneness.
- Transfer the steak to a cutting board and rest for 5 minutes before slicing thinly against the grain.
- Serve the sliced carne asada topped or accompanied with the avocado salsa.
