- 2 pounds flank steak
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 ripe avocados
- 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
- 1 jalapeño, seeded and minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice (for salsa)
- 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro (for salsa)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (for salsa)
Instructions
- Preheat your grill or grill pan to high heat.
- In a bowl, whisk together olive oil, lime juice, orange juice, garlic, cilantro, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper.
- Place steak in a shallow dish or zip-top bag, pour marinade over it, and refrigerate for 2 to 8 hours.
- While marinating, mash the avocados and mix with red onion, jalapeño, lime juice, cilantro, and salt. Chill until ready.
- Grill steak for 4–6 minutes per side until desired doneness is reached.
- Let the steak rest for 5 to 10 minutes, then slice thinly against the grain.
- Spoon avocado salsa over the steak and serve immediately.
Notes
- Make the avocado salsa fresh to avoid browning.
- Let steak rest before slicing to keep it juicy.
- Serve with warm tortillas or over rice bowls.
- Adjust jalapeño for more or less heat.
