Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground breakfast sausage
- 8 ounces smoked cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, freshly shredded
- 2 cups baking mix
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Brown dipping sauce or barbecue sauce, for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F and line a sheet pan with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground breakfast sausage, softened smoked cream cheese, sharp cheddar cheese, baking mix, garlic powder, and black pepper.
- Mix until the ingredients are evenly combined.
- Scoop and roll the mixture into 1 1/4-inch balls and place them on the prepared sheet pan, spacing them slightly apart.
- Bake for 20 to 24 minutes, or until the sausage balls are cooked through and golden brown.
- Let them rest for 5 minutes after baking.
- Serve warm with brown dipping sauce or barbecue sauce if desired.
Notes
- Let the smoked cream cheese soften before mixing for the smoothest texture.
- Freshly shredded cheddar melts better than pre-shredded cheese.
- For even baking, make all sausage balls the same size.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
