Ingredients
- Ground beef: 500 g
- Fine breadcrumbs: 60 g
- Egg: 1 large
- Garlic: 4 cloves, minced
- Sweet paprika: 2 teaspoons
- Ground cumin: 1 teaspoon
- Salt: 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper: 0.5 teaspoon
- Olive oil: 3 tablespoons
- Onion: 1 large, finely chopped
- Crushed tomatoes: 400 g
- Butter beans: 400 g cooked, drained
- Vegetable broth: 500 ml
- Bay leaf: 1
- Fresh parsley: 20 g, finely chopped
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, half of the garlic, paprika, cumin, salt, and black pepper until just mixed.
- Shape the mixture into evenly sized meatballs, about 4 cm in diameter.
- Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large pot over medium heat and brown the meatballs on all sides, then remove and set aside.
- Add the remaining olive oil to the pot and sauté the chopped onion until soft and translucent.
- Stir in the remaining garlic and cook briefly until fragrant.
- Add the crushed tomatoes, vegetable broth, and bay leaf, stirring to combine.
- Return the meatballs to the pot, cover, reduce heat, and simmer gently for 20 minutes.
- Add the butter beans and continue to cook uncovered for another 10 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Remove the bay leaf, sprinkle with fresh parsley, and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

- Gently mix the meatball ingredients to keep them tender.
- Brown the meatballs well to develop deeper flavor.
- Simmer gently to prevent the meatballs from breaking apart.
- Add beans near the end to keep them creamy.
